Was it really polenta, the food of the Dacians? You would think i was confusing somewhere, because corn appeared in Europe only after the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus. And yet the Dacians ate polenta, according to historical sources. Corn (Zea mays) it was first cultivated in Central America 8,000 years ago, and the food was considered sacred in the cultures of local tribes.
The Dacians were actually eating Mam Mulo, which would be translated today into soothes hunger. However, this basic preparation in the Dacian diet was a porridge boiled from millet and not from corn, as we are used to today.
The basic ingredient in the food of the Geto-Dacians was millet flour In the Romanian Plain, both millet for birds and for human consumption have been massively cultivated since ancient times, until the 1950s. The place where the millet is harvested is called malaiste.
Millet is a gluten-free cereal, with a significant amount of nutrients. Asians continue to consume it for centuries, instead, in the European diet, millet has been replaced with corn and wheat. These cereals are easier to produce and lower in cost.
The word “Malai” comes from the ancient Roman vocabulary of the word “mei”.
Millet contains: copper, phosphorus, manganese and magnesium, lowers blood pressure and the risk of heart attack, lowers blood sugar, is rich in antioxidants, lowers blood cholesterol and stimulates tissue repair.
Ingredients:
200 g milled husk
500 ml of water
a little salt
a tablespoon of oil.
Method:
Wash the millet thoroughly in 9 water.
Let the millet soak for an hour in clean water
Chop the millet a little in the food processor. This step is NOT required!
Boil water with salt, oil and millet.
Mix, put the lid on and let it boil until it binds.
Put the millet porridge in a bowl and let it cool a bit and take the shape of the bowl.
You can eat millet polenta with dairy or various foods, just like corn polenta.

"Incerc sa adopt un stil de viata cat mai sanatos, sa consum in fiecare zi legume, sa inlocuiesc din cand in cand proteinele animale cu cele vegetale si sa consum cat mai putini carbohidrati. Mananc in general disociat si tin fasting hipocaloric atunci cand simt ca pot incepe o cura de slabire."
